Overview

General Dentistry is focused on the health and function of the teeth and jaw. It involves the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases, disorders and conditions of the oral cavity, jaw, and face (maxillofacial area). At Georgetown Dentistry, our general and cosmetic dentist, Dr. Roshan, will use instruments, tests, radiographs and clinical expertise to diagnose whether you have any potential or existent disease or pathologies. According to your diagnosis, an individualized plan will be developed to prevent or treat any dental disease.

Your general dentist will evaluate your teeth to prevent or treat oral diseases such as dental caries (tooth decay) and periodontal disease (gum disease or pyorrhea). Common treatments involve the restoration of teeth as a treatment for dental caries (fillings crowns, bridges), prosthetic (dentures), endodontic (root canal) therapy, periodontal (gum) therapy, exodontia (extraction or surgical removal of teeth which cannot be restored), scaling of teeth to treat periodontal problems and endodontic root canal treatment to treat abscessed teeth.  Your general dentist may also prescribe medications such as antibiotics or sedatives, if needed.
